As the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic rages throughout the country, there is a surge in associated digestive issues like gaseousness, bloating, and acidity, say doctors. The number of patients with these complaints are increasing at an alarming rate.

In order for a sanitizer to be able to destroy bacteria and viruses, it must be 60 to 70 percent ethanol or isopropyl alcohol, which may cause vomiting, loss of control — to loss of consciousness and even death in very large, intentional overdoses, Considering the sanity of adults, there are rare chances of acute overdose. However, chances of chronic intoxication, in small doses, everyday use of sanitizers and it entering our system can cause equally or severe damage to digestion.

Antibiotics, antivirals, antifungals, antimalarial, and steroids need to be used in many patients and tend to take a toll on the gastro-intestinal system during the recovery phase.
